“A Brush with Water Color”- Art Work Display Sponsored by and held at the New Waterford Credit Union. New Waterford Main Street Art Gallery presents “A Brush with Water Color”. This event will be held in the main area of the Credit Union and runs from June 30th to September 29th. Art work will be available for purchase. Drop by for a tour of the art collection! New Waterford will be hosting the 2011 Big Leagues Canadian Championships at the Gerry Marsh Field. There will be teams across Canada participating in tournament. This 3 day event will be taking place at both the Tucker and Park fields. This event will host all the best fastball teams in the newly formed New Waterford District Bud Lite Fast Ball League. Don’t miss 10 former ball players being presented with plaques for their dedication to the game of ball on Saturday the 16th at 3:00pm. Come out and cheer on the players! 3:00pm Coal Dust Days Parade Sponsored by CBRM Recreation and the Coal Dust Days Committee. Formation takes place at 1:30pm on Plummer Avenue, near the KOC grounds. The parade gets under way at 3:00pm. The route for this year departs from lower Plummer Avenue, proceeds up King Street to Emerald Street, down Mahon Street to Plummer Avenue, ending near the KOC hall. Disbursement and awards ceremony will take place at the KOC hall immediately following parade. This year we will have cash prizes of $300.00, $200.00 and $100.00 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. 9:00am “Walk the Loop” Family Fun Sponsored by CBRM Active Transportation Plan Committee, CBRM Recreation, Coal Dust Days Committee and Community Volunteers. Everyone is encouraged to grab their sneakers and join in on this fun and recreational New Waterford “Walk the Loop” (3.7 km). This event will begin at the Rose Schwartz Park and will end at the Royal Canadian Legion: Branch 15 where refreshments and snacks will be available for all participants. 10:00am 1st Annual Pet Show Sponsored by CBRM Recreation and the Coal Dust Days Committee and held at the Rose Schwartz Park on Plummer Avenue. 1:00pm “Shot Gun Sta New Waterford Open Golf Tournament Sponsored by Bud Light, Casino Nova Scotia and New Waterford Credit Union. Come out and enjoy a fun filled day of golf held at the Lingan Golf & Country Club. Number of entries is limited, apply early for entrance. Applications will be accepted on a first come basis. The price this year will be $25 for the tournament and the meal. Non-members of Lingan must pay for green fees. Payment must be made in advance. Final date for entries is Friday July 15th, 2011. 10:00am-4:00pm 15th Annual Firefighters Competition Sponsored by the New Waterford, Scotchtown, and New Victoria Volunteer Fire Departments. Held at the New Waterford Volunteer Fire Department parking lot and featuring a full day of entertainment and educational activities suitable for the entire family. Local fire departments compete in Hook and Ladder Races, Bucket Brigades and Nozzle Races. The day will also feature barbeques, dunk tank, and much more. There will also be special guests Billy Bradley from 94.9 The Cape, Smith in the Morning from 103.5 The Eagle and Tashia Lee from 101.9 The Giant. Come out and cheer on your local department.
